Why Bouncing Back From A Setback Might Be Easier Than You Think

Reframing your state of mind is the key to turning a challenging situation around

Most of the time, the fear of uncertainty comes from the unknown. Feeling the loss of control in a situation, especially when it comes to your business, is a stressful thing to come to terms with. For Type A's and leaders constantly under pressure, the key to bouncing back is to focus on what you can control.

It’s important to remember that you’re in charge of your emotions and attitude towards the challenges you are facing. Not only does this mean you can hit refresh, but you can also think positively and reframe your mindset.

Here are 3 strategies to adopt with a new outlook in mind:

1) Stop focusing on the negative.

In business, there are a lot of things that can go wrong. And when they do, it seems like the negative takes all the focus. Amidst revenue loss, ceasing operations, and lowered morale, businesses, clients and even your own team may start to unravel in uncertainty. When there seems like no end in sight, reinforcing positivity is your main priority.

2) Reach out to your network.

In nearly every industry, leaders tend to keep to themselves fearing they might give tips, tricks, or other secrets to the competition.

This all changes when a business faces an unexpected challenge. The COVID-19 pandemic has shown us that businesses finally are lowering their fences, reconnecting with one another, and sharing their resources to navigate this uphill battle together. Start by asking your professional network or colleagues for their help. Their new perspectives will help you start the climb.

3) Know that you've got this.

It’s okay to allow yourself the time to reflect, wallow, or let it out over a great movie and popcorn. Letting things go is part of the process; however, focusing on positive affirmations and goals will offer stability when it comes to the unknown. Keep pushing for the success that you want, and remind yourself that you are capable of achieving everything that you set your mind to.
