Our client in the energy retail space is looking for a talented Product Designer to join their team. This role will be responsible for supporting multiple product innovation initiatives, using all customer acquisition and communication channels including digital offerings. This individual will also be responsible for partnering with product managers and applying their knowledge to design the user journey and customer experience of the product. This role will bring ideas to life through maps, flows, wireframes, prototypes and other design artifacts to communicate end to end user experiences across the customer lifecycle of the product. This individual will support the build out and development of the product and ensure features, benefits, value propositions, customer experience to the targeted segments.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • The Product Designer role represents a different way of working – human-centered and iterative– by collaborating within teams and simplifying problems into compelling solutions / designs
  • Create Product Design plans using human-centered and design thinking methodologies
  • Produce Product Design Blueprints, illustrated Journey maps, and Concept Designs, product prototypes, Empathy Maps, and Value Proposition Proposals for the creation and evolution of energy and non-commodity products
  • Learning how to lead discovery work autonomously, usually with manager guidance and support
  • Craft engaging and usable experiences using user research, interaction design and visual design
  • Competent in user experience design research
  • Strong in most core design skills; interest in developing and exploring extended skills (e.g.prototyping, visual design, data manipulation / visualization)
  • Translate product strategy into detailed and presentable requirements, prototypes and wireframes
  • Create product strategy documents that describe business cases, high-level use cases, technical requirements
  • Define the vision for product design and user experience

Minimum Requirements:

  • A post-secondary degree, college diploma or equivalent years’ work experience in product design or UX service design or related field.
  • Bachelor’s degree or requirement years of experiences in UX Design, Design Strategy, Human Interaction, or Behavioural Science or UX
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in UX/UI Product Design or equivalent UX Design experience (service design)
  • A diverse portfolio of work designed by you that demonstrates cutting-edge product design work, a deep understanding of customer needs and unique approaches to problem solving
  • Proficient in a variety of methods to convey ideas and concepts using various UX collaboration tools
  • Ability to conceptualize and ideate through iterative prototyping
  • An established performer with strong capabilities in the Design craft
  • Understands and can work with core design strategy and service design methods and processes
  • Experience working with human-centered design to help a team develop and deliver new products, services, and experiences
  • Hands-on experience in designing for a variety of digital touchpoints and non-digital channels
  • Confident in presentation skills and building well-structured presentation decks
  • Confident communicating design decisions and rationale to teams
  • Experience with prototyping tools/skillset in service of rapid prototyping
  • Learning to influence and sell design solutions through storytelling and context setting
  • Influencer who doesn't hold their ideas as precious and who iterates quickly, based on data, and delivers recommendations and analysis that tell the story of the customer experience we are delivering
  • Someone who thinks in terms of journeys, not screens
