We are seeking a talented Designer with skills in photography/videography, specifically shooting for products, for an immediate freelance opportunity located in the eastern Durham region.  This role is for a duration of six months contract, however could evolve to a full time hire from there. Onsite three days per week.


  • The Multimedia Specialist is responsible for producing, shooting and editing best-in-class photography and video productions to support our client’s digital engagement platforms 
  • Help create and develop visual storytelling across multiple platforms, using graphic design, photography and videography to inform and engage our target audiences.
  • This position will contribute ideas for stories, photos and other multimedia that are fresh, compelling and timely and that will meet audience interests and needs.
  • Take initiative and be proactive in creating videos, photo galleries and other multimedia content, and ensures photos are updated regularly
    online in Digital Asset Management and accessible for the team.
  • Work closely with the Marketing team to execute concepts through to completion
  • Supports digital engagement programs with rich media content including graphics, photos, and videos; as well as social media platforms
  • Supports the production of digital media content from conception to final delivery in collaboration with the social media team
  • Carries out production activities such as live production of special events, marketing and promotional videos, live video web streaming, and custom videos
  • Creates appropriate imagery for social media, website communications and digital signage

Graphic Design – 50%

  • Delivers a consistent “look” in the design, layout, artwork and colour for all promotional materials
    including brochures, flyers, posters, advertisements, presentation material, logo design, exhibit
    material, print ads, banner ads, billboards, etc
  • Utilizes knowledge of brand standards to make recommendations regarding brand guidelines and
    identifies opportunities for branding consistency
  • Performs artwork retouch as needed
  • Archives and documents all projects once complete

Photography – 30%

  • Produces product photography, environmental and special event photography such as publications,
    websites, media releases and special events
  • Provides colour correction and photo edits as needed
  • Recommends equipment updates and software for photography maintenance
  • Updates and maintains photography archive database
  • Coordinates the maintenance of photo studio, including prop inventory and supplies, along with Marketing team

Videography – 20%

  • Records program material for production; makes technical and creative recommendations regarding locations, appropriate lighting, shooting angles, placement and type of microphones, other audio needs, and other production issues
  • Determines what camera equipment is necessary and obtains equipment
  • Coordinates pre-production meetings for on-site shoots
  • Transports, sets up, and operates various production equipment including cameras, audio and video recorders, lighting equipment, props, and microphones for location and studio production
  • Edits, assembles, compresses and posts final audio/video program material
  • Archives digital files and maintains a library of physical files for reference
  • Supports the team throughout the production process, which may include finding interview subjects, creating graphics, and presenting to management


  • College diploma in film, graphic design, web design, visual communications, advertising, multi-media or a related field
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of graphics and web design; creative agency experience is a plus
  • Excellent photographic skills and technical expertise with digital cameras and audio/video equipment and have strong computer skills, including fluency in photo editing software, video editing, audio editing, web galleries, and internet research skills
  • Experience with operating camera, audio and lighting equipment in addition to post-production software and professional video editing software
  • Understanding of both the broadcast and online video community with a working knowledge of YouTube and other major social media platforms and content format that performs best in each
  • Proven ability to establish and develop strong relationships with departmental and organizational leaders, and champion a culture of teamwork, continuous learning and improvement while upholding the values of the organization
  • Self-directed and self-motivated, with a keen eye for detail and the ability prioritize wide-ranging duties in order to meet deadlines
  • Strong planning, organization and verbal and written communication skills
  • Adhere to safe work practices and perform work duties in a manner that ensures the health and safety of all employees
  • Ability to work outside of regular office hours on occasion as needed
